Bontoc, Mountain Province \u2013 In a move to empower and uplift Persons Deprived <\/a>of Liberty (PDLs) and Mountain Province District Jail (MPDJ) personnel through education, the Mountain Province State University (MPSU) conducted a livelihood training and information drive titled \u201cAdopt a Dorm, Build a Future: Livelihood Training Behind Bars” under their project Hospitality Extension Livelihood Program (HELP) \u201dat the Mountain Province District Jail (MPDJ) yesterday, August 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program, which focused on a lecture and orientation on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system, was facilitated by faculty members and extensionists from MPSU\u2019s Hospitality Management Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchored on the belief that education must be inclusive and far-reaching, the initiative underscores MPSU\u2019s commitment to making learning accessible even to sectors often marginalized by society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis extension activity of our university\u2019s Hospitality Management program implies that every person deserves a second chance,\u201d MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Dexter C. Lingabanan, shared during the activity. \u201cBehind bars, a future can still be built one skill, one livelihood, and one opportunity at a time,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HACCP lecture aimed to provide both PDLs and jail personnel with essential knowledge on food safety and sanitation, skills that can pave the way for future livelihood and employment opportunities. More than just technical training, the session also sought to spark rehabilitation and restore dignity through meaningful work and productive engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity also served as a testament to the growing partnership between MPSU and the BJMP, with both institutions working hand in hand to provide educational programs within correctional facilities.#<\/p>\n\n\n\n
