Mountain Province State University President, Dr. <\/a>Edgar G. Cue, attended the Higher Education Summit at the Manila Hotel today, September 15, 2025, hosted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The summit focused on CHED\u2019s efforts to improve access, quality, and innovation in higher education in the Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also marked the first 100 days of CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis. The CHED Chair introduced the ACHIEVE Agenda, a 7-point plan to strengthen the country\u2019s higher education system. In her speech, Dr. Agrupis discussed CHED\u2019s achievements, challenges, and future goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key moment at the event was the Commitment Wall signing, where various agencies pledged to support CHED\u2019s mission. The celebration also featured the launch of the Presidential Merit Scholarship Program by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which provides financial support to students who consistently achieve the highest academic honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several important partnership agreements were signed during the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 CHED and TESDA: To align technical and vocational education with higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 CHED and DOLE: To improve the transition from education to employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 CHED and DMW: To support the educational and career growth of overseas Filipino workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 CHED and CHR: To promote human rights education in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 CHED and Unilab: To encourage professional development and industry partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit also featured support from various government officials, all sharing a common vision of inclusive education and workforce development. Overall, the summit emphasized CHED’s active role in shaping the future of higher education through collaboration with government and industry partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
