Multi-Purpose Hall— Students from the AB in Political <\/a>Science program engaged in a fruitful student congress today, 16 December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bearing the theme “Beyond Boundaries in the Digital Era: Advancing Social Transformation Through Accountable and Sustainable Governance,” the congress featured a series of lectures from resource speakers who covered a wide range of topics related to accountability, governance, sustainability, and political analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Luzlyn M. Agwilang opened the session with a discussion on the pivotal role of Philippine politics in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lydia L. Budod tackled and shared her takeaways on the institutional response regarding corruption and governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Joy Fraine Ngodcho followed with an exploration of how popular culture influences public opinion and governance. Mr. Sean Camelon Ligligen presented on \u201cSmart PolSci,\u201d emphasizing the importance of developing analytical skills for data-driven governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a thought-provoking talk, Dr. Rexton F. Chakas examined the impact of artificial intelligence on political theory, addressing concepts in the algorithmic era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon session began with Atty. Jose N. Co, who discussed the application of criminal law in the context of current events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was followed by Atty. Denmark P. Butic\u2019s presentation on legal frameworks surrounding informed consent and its implications for Indigenous Cultural Communities\/Indigenous Peoples (ICC\/IP) consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Rhufa Baguiwen provided insights into the evolving Philippine political landscape, while Ms. Bronwen Lang-akan highlighted the importance of cultural identity amidst global interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Geraldine D. Segseg emphasized the need to balance advocacy with objectivity in political science research ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The congress concluded with Dr. Francisco Armas demonstrating practical data analysis techniques using MS Excel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by MPSU-Bontoc Administrator Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, reminded the students to keep in mind that “commitment to accountable and sustainable governance can spark change.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I hope that through this activity, you will embrace what public service truly requires: critical thinking, courage to ensure, empathy to listen, and integrity to do what is right, even when it is difficult,” he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
