Mountain Province State University (MPSU) held the 2nd batch of its Culminating Activity on Social Orientation on April 12 at Coffee and Lemon, Samoki, Bontoc, where students applied their knowledge of proper decorum, table manners, and social interaction in a fine dining setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

University President Edgar G. Cue, represented by Chief of Staff Karen Cue, delivered a powerful reflection on the growing disconnection within families due to excessive use of mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTonight, I invite you to embrace a simple yet powerful idea: come to the table with stories to share, not phones to stare at,\u201d she conveyed. She further described how it has become common for both children and adults to be absorbed in their screens, even during meals\u2014resulting in families being physically together yet emotionally distant. \u201cThey know the latest trends, the newest viral videos\u2014but they do not know how their parents are, what their siblings are going through, or even how their day has been. And that\u2026 is heartbreaking,\u201d said Cue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In closing, President Cue encouraged students to value family time and rediscover the essence of shared meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you return home, I hope you will not see your family meals as routine, but as opportunities\u2014opportunities to connect, to listen, to say thank you, and to simply be present. Because one day, you will realize that those ordinary meals were never ordinary at all,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
