The University proudly participated in the 4th Cordinnovation Forum on 29 April 2026, hosted by the Department of Science and Technology \u2013 Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR). The forum served as a platform for presenting emerging technologies and innovations across the Cordillera region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, the MPSU team presented the outputs of the project \u201cClimaPestDetect: An Integrated Digital Platform for Climate-Resilient Identification, Early Detection, and Decision Support on Insect Pests and Diseases in Semi-Temperate High-Value Crops of Bauko, Mountain Province,\u201d funded by DOST-CAR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project team: Dr. Edgar G. Cue, Dr. Epiphania B. Magwilang, Mr. Elmer D. Pakipac, Mr. Geoffrey Alvin L. Ticangan, Mr. Jason A. Elias, and Mr. Hyacinth B. Dioso introduced two innovative digital platforms: a web application and a mobile application designed to support farmers and agricultural stakeholders. These platforms utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enable early detection of crop pests and diseases, provide real-time decision support, and assist in the management of high-value crops such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, potato, tomato, and peppers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A live demonstration highlighted the platforms\u2019 ability to identify pests and diseases using camera input, offering a practical, user-friendly tool for farmers in the highlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently in their final stages of development, both platforms are expected to be launched for public use later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through initiatives like ClimaPestDetect, MPSU continues to bridge science, technology, and agriculture, advancing climate-resilient farming and strengthening support for highland communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
