Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through the College of Criminal Justice Education and Liberal Arts (CCJELA), conducted a two-day training workshop titled \u201cShooting Barriers: A Gender-Responsive Approach on the Fundamentals of Marksmanship\u201d on June 3-4, 2026, at the Montanyosa Practical Shooters Association Incorporation and Gun Club in Faniyas, Bontoc, Mountain Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her opening remarks, delivered by Mr. Bronson L. Peckley, CCJELA faculty member, Ms. Micchelle C. Doss emphasized the training’s inclusive nature, noting that \u201cregardless of gender, everyone deserves the same chance to learn, master these skills, and grow in this field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guest of Honor and Speaker, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco, underscored the value of inclusivity in skills development, stating that \u201cskills like discipline, precision, and responsibility are not owned by one gender. They belong to anyone willing to learn, to focus, and to serve with integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery barrier can be broken when we choose inclusion over limitation, cooperation over division, and courage over hesitation,\u201d added Dr. Cue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the activity, Police Chief Master Sergeant Ronnie Balingao, Police Staff Sergeant Carille Suclad, and Police Staff Sergeant Simeon Lingbanan of the Bontoc Municipal Police Station served as range officers and instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training aimed to equip CCJELA students with fundamental marksmanship skills, enhance their understanding of firearm safety and responsibility, and promote inclusivity through gender-responsive practices in firearms education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his closing remarks, Dr. Edgar B. Mapangdol, Dean of CCJELA, expressed his sincere appreciation to MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, Gender and Development (GAD) Director Ms. Micchelle C. Doss, and the personnel of the Bontoc Municipal Police Station for their unwavering support and collaboration in the successful conduct of the training workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
