Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through its Extension Services and Community Engagement (ESCE) Unit, conducted a four-day extension activity on Mental Health in the Workplace for employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barlig from September 22 to 25, 2026.
The activity aimed to promote mental health awareness, strengthen employeesβ understanding of workplace well-being, and foster a healthier, more supportive, and resilient work environment within the local government.
The program featured a comprehensive learning session on Mental Health in the Workplace, facilitated by MPSUβs extension team. Dr. Ricky B. Ducas, Jr., University Extension Specialist III, served as the resource speaker, sharing his expertise and insights on mental health, workplace wellness, stress management, and strategies for maintaining psychological well-being in the workplace.
The sessions were further enriched through a Self-Awareness Activity facilitated by Ms. Dixty L. Caranto and Ms. Eunark G. Andaya, which encouraged participants to gain deeper insights into their personal strengths, emotions, values, behaviors, and areas for growth. Through guided reflection and interactive activities, participants were given an opportunity to better understand themselves and recognize how self-awareness can contribute to healthier relationships, improved coping, and overall mental well-being in the workplace.
The four-day activity provided LGU Barlig employees with an opportunity to deepen their awareness of mental health and recognize the importance of creating a workplace culture where well-being, empathy, resilience, and mutual support are valued.
The activity forms part of MPSUβs continuing extension initiatives aimed at bringing relevant knowledge and expertise to partner communities, strengthening the capacity of local institutions, and contributing to the overall well-being and productivity of the communities it serves.
