The University activates the Incident Command System for a 5.6 magnitude earthquake in participation with the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on March 13, 2025.

MPSU simulated key earthquake response protocols including the DUCK, COVER, and HOLD, followed by evacuation procedures. Moreover, the Bontoc campus staged a 5.6 magnitude earthquake scenario to test the preparedness of students and employees.

On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) closely observed and evaluated the simulated 16 scenarios including the response efforts.

Meanwhile, the campus’s Emergency Operations Center, Incident Management Team, and Response Teams effectively coordinated their actions to manage and address the simulated situations.

Significantly, this nationwide drill strengthens MPSU’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities. This ensures that the staff and students are equipped to handle real-life emergencies, ultimately contributing to the university community’s resilience in the face of natural disasters.
