Batis Aramin Resort & Hotel, Lucban, Quezon Province, Philippines- The Tala, The Mocking Bird, the Official Student Publication of the University, participated in the 20th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) on April 2-4, 2025. This is the first time Tala has joined the LHEPC again in 5 years.

Centered on the theme, PRESS PLAY: Campus Journalists as Game Changers in Digital Revolution, this yearโ€™s LHEPC gathered 151 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and 1,074 student journalists and mentors from regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol, and Cordillera, with a special participation of SUCs from Visayas.

Amidst the intense showdown of top-notch student journalists, Mr. Zoren Grijaldo secured Top 8 for Comics Strip Drawing-English Category. Mr. Grijaldo was among the 35 student journalists who competed in the category.

For the first time since the publication started joining the press conferences, Tala was given a spot in the Luzonwide Association of College Editors (LACE) officialdom. Ms. Queenie Hope Kabfilan, Editor-in-Chief of Tala was chosen as the Board of Director to represent CAR in future LHEPC events.

During the search for the Mr. and Ms. LHEPC 2025, the publication showed their enthusiastic support and unparalleled cheers to CARโ€™s representatives, Mr. Rohan Yzrel Ruiz from White & Blue (Saint Louis University) and Ms. Aviegay Via Delizo from The Upland Farm (Ifugao State University). Mr. Ruiz was crowned as Mr. LHEPC 2025.

The publication joined The Mountain Collegian (Benguet State University), White & Blue (Saint Louis University), The Earthline (Kalinga State University), The Organon (Kalinga State University-Rizal campus), The Upland Farm (Ifugao State University), The Alternative (University of the Cordilleras), The Flame (Baguio Central University), and Sparks Publication (Divine Word College of Bangued) in representing CAR during the Luzon press conference.

The Tala, The Mocking Bird staff extend its gratitude to the ever-supportive University President, Dr. Edgar G. Cue, and other college officials, its mentors and advisers, and University personnel who accompanied and motivated them, from the press works until the three-day rigorous press conference.

TTMB also thank the CAR-SUCs for the camaraderie and knowledge-filled RHEPC and LHEPC. We look forward to representing Cordillera Administrative Region again with you next year.
