
In order to enhance efficiency, pinpoint challenges, and monitor the progress of the DOST-PCAARRD FERD funded project titled โProduction and Biodiversity Conservation of Wild Tea Plants in Mountain Provinceโ, representatives from DOST-PCAARRD began the assessment and oversight alongside Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, who serves as the deputy executive director for research and development in the said unit and Dr. Daisy E. Cabral, the OIC Director of FERD PCAARRD.
It began with two events, starting with a courtesy call at the MPSU main campus at the office of the Vice President for Research Development and Extension, where Dr. Epiphania B. Magwilang warmly welcomed them, and the main monitoring took place at CVSD-Research, Extension and Development Complex in Bauko on May 14, 2025 which was participated by the Wild Tea Project Team.
Dr. Lichelyn Nasungan offered a detailed summary of the project, emphasizing the completed objectives and showcasing documentation of activities carried out in the first year and the last quarter of the second year, as well as those currently ongoing. Dr. Juanito and Dr. Daisy emphasized the assessment and offered several insights that will aid in the next activities of both the current project and the proposed Phase II of the project.
Following the deliberation on the project’s future direction, a field visit to the nursery, processing machines, and other facilities currently utilized by the project began. During this visit, the propagating method received commendations, and DOST representatives offered suggestions.#
