
University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Reynaldo P. Gayo Jr., Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Dexter C. Lingbanan and MPSU Tadian Administrator Dr. Brent Greg E. Gomuad attended the 39th Commemoration of the 1986 Sipat/ Peace Accord (Cessation of Hostilities), held in celebration of the National Peace Consciousness Month 2025 at Mount Data Hotel, Mount Data, Bauko, Mountain Province today, September 12.
The Sipat, which took place on September 13, 1986, marked the historic meeting between then-President Corazon C. Aquino and leaders of the Cordillera Bodong Administration and the Cordillera Peopleโs Liberation Army. This event signified the cessation of hostilities and affirmed the Cordilleransโ aspiration for regional autonomy.
The event was graced by the keynote speaker, Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan from the Department of Economy, Planning and Development/ CORDS-CAR, represented by Asec. Agnes M. Espinas-Tolentino.
Highlights of the program includes the turnover of concreting of Balicanao Am-am Provincial Road, Bauko, Mountain Province Phase (1) and Groundbreaking of Phase II, Transformation Program Plan and Adoption for Kalinga and Mountain Province, ceremonial awarding of PAMANA Projects to PLGUs worth Php 273.98 M, and the ceremonial groundbreaking of Mt. Data Peace Center by Secretary Carlito G. Galvez from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
Also in attendance were representatives from various national line agencies, state universities and colleges in CAR, as well as other notable leaders and dignitaries.
