The event, held at the BJMP-MPDJ facility, is part of the jail unitโs ongoing Learning and Development Intervention (LDI) program aimed at improving the skills, knowledge, and attitudes of its personnel. It also served as a crucial extension activity for MPSU, demonstrating the universityโs role as a partner in community and institutional development.
The seminar was led by Ms. Carolyne Dale C. Iguid, MPSU ISO Coordinator and Document Control Custodian from MPSU. She provided the BJMP personnel with a comprehensive overview of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), highlighting its core principles such as customer focus, leadership, process approach, and continuous improvement. The lecture emphasized how adopting these standards can lead to increased efficiency and better service delivery within the public sector.
Following the theoretical session, an invaluable mock audit was conducted to apply the principles learned. The audit was spearheaded by Mr. Alexander T. Donato, the Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Team Leader, also from MPSU, and assisted by Ms. Iguid. This practical exercise allowed the BJMP-MPDJ staff to experience a simulated audit environment, identify areas for improvement, and correct any potential non-conformities, thereby preparing them for an official audit and reinforcing their commitment to quality.
The successful conduct of this training and mock audit underscores the robust partnership between the two institutions. The BJMP-MPDJโs initiative to seek MPSUโs expertise for this vital training showcases its dedication to professional excellence and continual improvement.
Jail Senior Inspector and Acting Jail Warden John S. Melecio expressed his gratitude to MPSU for its generous support, emphasizing the importance of such interventions in empowering the jail personnel. This event is a testament to the shared vision of both organizations to foster a culture of quality and contribute to a safer, more progressive community in Mountain Province.#
