Today, 23rd of September 2024, the Mountain Province State University (MPSU) in collaboration with MP-Provincial Local Government Unit is hosting the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mountain Province โ Climate Field School for Farmers (MP-CFSF) at MPSU Paracelis Satellite, Bacarri, Paracelis, MP.
MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue eagerly welcomed the attendees from various regional, and local line agencies to the event. He also shared how the project has come about to its realization through the constant support and resolute efforts between partner agencies in this pursuit. Further, he also emphasized that last year, the 271.15 million fund allotted for this remarkable project came from the Peopleโs Survival Fund (PSF) Board under the leadership of its chair, Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno.
The MP-CFSF project centers on the four key-areas of agricultural fisheries, infrastructure development, natural ecosystems, and institutional capacity development. This initiative fosters a long-term agricultural support to capacitate and boost the knowledge of farmer and fisher folk beneficiaries in an aim to establish a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Mountain Province that can adapt and cope with the risks brought by climate change, thus ensuring food security and increased production in agriculture and fisheries.
Said project is a multi-level and multi-sectoral collaboration of various government agencies, including MPSU. From the national, regional, and local line agencies are: the Department of Finance (DoF); Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP); Peopleโs Survival Fund (PSF) Board; Climate Change Commission of the Philippines (CCC); National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)-CAR; Department of Agriculture (DA)-CAR; Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-CAR; Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-CAR; Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center-Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI-RTC); and the Provincial Local Government Units of Mountain Province.
During the program, Project Manager of MP-CFSF Engr. Ian Neil D. Culallad gave an overview of the project. Meanwhile, esteemed guests also delivered their inspiring messages, including Barangay Captain of Bacarri Paracelis Hon. Thomas G. Simangon; Municipal Mayor of Paracelis Hon. Marcos G. Ayangwa is represented by the Municipal Civil Registrar Atty. Shasta Anne Vargas; Regional Directors: NEDA-CAR RD Susan A. Sumbeling, ATI-RTC-Training Center Director Charlie C. Sagudan, represented by Adrian Chris P. Velasco; DENR RD Paquito T. Moreno, Jr., represented by Chief of Finance Division Mr. Marcos E. Bias; DOST-MP Provincial Director Angel L. Maguen; Congressman of Mountain Province Hon. Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr., represented by Political Affairs Officer III from the Office of the Congressman, Mr. Erlindo Agwilang; Governor of Mountain Province, Hon. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr.; and Vice Governor of Mountain Province, Francis O. Tauli.
MPSU students entertained the guests by showcasing their God-given talents through their lively performances of singing with Mr. Curt Gayo from Bontoc Campus and Mr. Journey Gunsab from Paracelis Satellite. A cultural presentation was also performed by MPSU Paracelis students.
Afterwards, Fr. William Moguigui led the benediction of the ground. Thereafter, the groundbreaking ceremony was commenced under the leadership of MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue and Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. Joining them were esteemed guests from various agencies.
