Bauko, Mountain Province — October 13, 2024. Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through its Research Development and Extension (RDE) Unit, spearheaded a landscape planning activity at the CVSDREP Center in Ba-ang, Bauko. The initiative serves as groundwork for the establishment of the Highland Agriculture Innovation and Learning (HAIL) Center, envisioned as a hub for sustainable agricultural practices and innovation in the Cordillera.
The planning session focused on identifying strategic areas for key facilities, including a greenhouse, nursery, technology demonstration plots, and a weather monitoring system. These components are designed to support research, training, and community engagement in highland agriculture.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; Decent Work and Economic Growth; and Climate Action/Life on Land—the activity underscores MPSU’s commitment to advancing sustainability and resilience in the region.
The HAIL Center is expected to become a learning and innovation hub that empowers farmers, students, and local communities by integrating modern technologies with indigenous knowledge systems. Through this initiative, MPSU continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for institutional excellence, environmental stewardship, and inclusive development in Mountain Province.
