Mayaen Sports Complex— 189 pre-service teachers of MPSU-Bontoc received their nameplates yesterday, 05 December 2025, during the 6th Pinning of Nameplate and Candle Lighting Ceremony for Pre-service Teachers. Said future educators were accompanied by their parents and/or guardians.

Mr. Aristotle C. Calical, a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English alumnus and currently a Master Teacher II at the Department of Education, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his inspirational message, he urged the student teachersโ€”the future educators to โ€œcarry forward the legacy of resilience and perseveranceโ€ as they โ€œhold the key to transforming lives through education.โ€

โ€œAs you don your pins today, wear them with pride but also with humility, knowing that you are part of a noble traditionโ€”one that transcends generations and borders,โ€ Mr. Calical added.

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue also extended his message, which was delivered by SSDO Dean Ms. Jennifer Ruth C. Tuazon. โ€œThe nameplate you receive today carries every challenge you have faced and the resilience you discovered within yourselves.โ€ He also noted that as teachers, they will become โ€œthat guiding light for future learners.โ€

The nameplate and candle lighting ceremonies are symbolic rites of passage for pre-service teachers, marking their transition from students to educators and their formal acceptance of the challenges and responsibilities of the teaching profession.

Also present during the event extending their salutations were MPSU-Bontoc Administrator Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, College of Teacher Education-Bontoc Dean Dr. Annie Grail F. Ekid, Dr. Brent Joseph Bangao, Dr. Olivia Yangat, Ms. Delia Sumeg-ang and Student Regent Mr. Hill Coleman Awichen.
