January 28, 2025—-As Apayao State College (ASC) gears up for its transformative journey in achieving university status, the esteemed Institution invited MPSU to share valuable insights and experiences from its transition to becoming a state university. The event was held at the Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Building of ASCโ€™s Luna Campus in Luna, Apayao.

Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Christie Lynne C. Codod, Director for Institutional Quality Assurance represented the University in sharing the MPSU experiences, challenges, learnings, and other relevant details during its transition to universityhood with key ASC officials. Their presentations include the responsibilities, strategies, and milestones involved in the process.

Regional Director, Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr PhD, CESO III, also graced the event. He provided an overview of the key qualifications and expectations for achieving university statusโ€”academic excellence, robust research programs, strong community engagement, and governance and infrastructure readiness, to name a few.

Participants intently listened as Dr. Anduyan imparted invaluable lessons on unity, perseverance, patience, and dedication. He expanded on the proverb, โ€œThe journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,โ€ by stressing that it must also begin with โ€œconditioning the mind and pooling up resourcesโ€ as these provide a strong foundation for overcoming challenges that may arise.

He also pointed out the significance of camaraderie, urging ASC to seek guidance from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that successfully navigated the same path to universityhood. Dr. Anduyan underscored the importance of collective progress, advocating that โ€œno HEI should be left behind.โ€

Mrs. Jemmarie S. Kotoken, Vice President for Administration and Finance Services of ASC, expressed her gratitude to all the participants. The event culminated with the successful presentations and the wealth of knowledge shared, which will undoubtedly serve as a cornerstone for ASCโ€™s pursuit of university status.

MPSU extends its warmest wishes to Apayao State College for a successful and transformative journey to achieving universityhood.

All the best, ASC!
