Mountain Province State University (MPSU) proudly participated in CIRCULAUNCHPAD 2026, a five-day startup incubation and innovation program held on July 22–26, 2026, organized by Circle Works in partnership with Plastic Reboot, and supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the European Union (EU), GGGI, VIVITA, and other partner organizations.
Representing MPSU were Dr. Elvin P. Rosario, Dean of the College of Accountancy, Business Management, and Information Technology (CABMIT), and Dr. Megan R. Matias, Chairperson of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Program. They were joined by student delegates from the BSBA Program, Ms. Christel Joy M. Sawi and Ms. Gemma Oway L. Pelayo, and from the BSIT Program, Mr. Jhun Lloyd K. Padonga and Ms. Zagada Ganayo B. Pekas.
Throughout the intensive five-day bootcamp, participants immersed themselves in workshops, lectures, mentoring sessions, customer discovery, business model development, sustainability immersion, startup storytelling, and pitching activities, all anchored on the principles of the circular economy, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
One of the major highlights of the program was the presentation of startup proposals developed by the participating teams. The BSBA delegation presented EcoTingi Hub, a circular economy startup that promotes sustainable refill solutions and community-based entrepreneurship by encouraging responsible consumption and reducing single-use plastic waste. Meanwhile, the BSIT delegation showcased TAKO Refilling Station, a technology-driven refill station concept designed to make sustainable consumption more accessible while promoting efficient waste reduction through innovative digital solutions.
Another memorable highlight of the event was the Fireside Chat with Senator Bam Aquino, who inspired participants through his insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, youth leadership, and the vital role of startups in creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic impact. His message encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises that contribute to nation-building.
MPSU’s participation in CIRCULAUNCHPAD 2026 reaffirms the University’s commitment to cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable development through experiential learning, collaboration, and industry engagement. The knowledge, professional networks, and practical experiences gained from the program will further strengthen the University’s initiatives in entrepreneurship education, startup development, and circular economy advocacy.
The successful presentation of EcoTingi Hub and TAKO Refilling Station demonstrates that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand in creating resilient communities, empowering future entrepreneurs, and building a better and more sustainable future for all.
