HEAL promotes wellness, gender responsiveness at MPSU

Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, conducted an activity titled ‘HEAL: Health, Empowerment, Awareness, and Life Towards a Physically and Mentally Healthy University’ at the Coffee and Lemon Café, JBA Bldg., Samoki, Bontoc, MP.

The activity was organized as a learning session for students, centered on promoting physical and mental health, cultivating self-awareness, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.

In his keynote address, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue underscored the importance of prioritizing mental health alongside academic success, reminding students that, “Your mental health is just as important as your achievements. No grade, award, or accomplishment is more important than your well-being.”

Featured resource speakers in this event were Rev. Fr. Marcial Lloyd C. Castañeda, who discussed “Nurturing the Spirit: Strengthening Mental Health Through Faith, Hope, and Purpose,” and Dr. Ricky B. Ducas, who presented “Building Resilient Minds: Practical Strategies for Mental Wellness and Emotional Well-being.”

The H.E.A.L. program supports the University’s endeavor to fostering a healthy and inclusive academic environment by promoting the overall well-being of its students through learning opportunities, wellness awareness, and access to health-related services.
