13 August 2026 – Behind the walls of the Mountain Province District Jail (MPDJ), learning continues to open doors to new possibilities as the Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through the College of Information, Hospitality, and Sustainable Tourism Management (CIHSTM), launched the two-day “Livelihood Training Behind Bars: Food Packaging Life Cycle Management” at Sitio Bilibid, Upper Caluttit, Bontoc, Mountain Province, providing Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with practical skills that may help them build opportunities for the future.
The activity, led by MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue and represented by Chief of Staff Dr. Karen B. Cue, underscored the value of learning, perseverance, and self-belief. Dr. Cue also encouraged the participants to look beyond their present circumstances, embrace opportunities for growth, and prepare for a better future.
Conducted in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the initiative goes beyond livelihood training. It reflects the university’s VGMT by demonstrating how education can reach beyond walls and circumstances, giving every learner the opportunity to gain skills, rebuild confidence, and look forward to new beginnings.
