The Mountain Province State University (MPSU)-Bontoc officially commenced its three-day 2026 Intramural Sports Fest today, September 3, with a parade that saw students and personnel walk through the streets of Bontoc toward the main venue at the Eyeb Covered Gym, where the opening program was held.
Bannering the theme, “Brewing Excellence: Inspiring Unity, Wellness, and Sportsmanship,” this year’s Intramurals brings together six competing teams: the Green Hornets of the College of Criminal Justice Education and Liberal Arts; Blazing Phoenix of the College of Accountancy, Business Management and Information Technology; White Pythons of the College of Healthcare Education; Crimson Knights of the College of International Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism Management; Blue Wolves of the College of Teacher Education; and Wild Falcons of the College of Advanced Education.
In his inspirational message, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue emphasized the importance of unity and sportsmanship among the competing teams, reminding everyone that despite their differences, they remain one MPSU family. “Six teams. Six identities. Six different colors. But ONE MPSU Bontoc,” he said.
The opening program also featured the lighting of the urn, raising of team banners, an intermission number by the Marching Band, ground demonstration, and cheerdance performances, followed by the oath of sportsmanship, oath of officiating officials, declaration of the 2026 MPSU Intramurals Sports Fest, and the ceremonial serve.
Bench cheering competitions, SAGALA, and Indigenous Sports were also held following the opening program.
The three-day Intramurals Sports Fest will run until Saturday, September 5, 2026.
