MPSU conducts impact assessment of Ed.D. extension program

BAUKO, Mountain Province | September 23, 2026 — Mountain Province State University (MPSU) – Extension Services and Community Engagement Unit (ESCEU), conducted an on-site impact assessment of its Ed.D. extension activities on instructional manual development implemented in 2018 and 2019 in District II, Bauko, Mountain Province.

The assessment was conducted by the ESCEU, represented by Dr. Christie Lynne C. Codod and Ms. Ursula C. Dontogan, together with Dr. Marlon C. Etngay of the Schools Division Office of Mountain Province, through face-to-face interviews with school heads and teachers who participated in the 2018–2019 extension activities.

The assessment gathered participants’ feedback on the application and sustainability of the competencies gained from the extension activities, particularly in the development and use of Strategic Instructional Materials (SIM). Participants reported that the materials remained useful in instruction, particularly for learners who needed additional support, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, as well as pupils who were absent and needed learning materials for catch-up activities.

Participants also shared that SIM were used as supplementary materials and, in some cases, for promotional and school-related activities. The competencies gained from the program were likewise shared with other teachers through coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance.

The assessment further highlighted the professional benefits of the extension activities, with participants associating the skills gained with their continuing professional development and career advancement, including reclassification and other professional progression opportunities.

The findings showed that the competencies developed through the 2018–2019 extension activities continued to be applied in classroom instruction, learner support, teacher mentoring, and school-level practices several years after the intervention.
