SABANGAN, Mountain Province | September 25, 2026 — To assess the continuing impact of its community extension initiatives, the Extension Services and Community Engagement Unit (ESCEU) of Mountain Province State University (MPSU) conducted an impact assessment of its Liberal Arts Project/Activity (LAGPaS), a community capacity-building initiative that included a Training-Workshop on Resolution Making, at Barangay Gayang, Sabangan.
The assessment was conducted by the ESCEU, represented by Mr. Scheryk Warren D. Afidchao and Ms. Ursula C. Dontogan, accompanied by Bachelor of Science in Political Science faculty members Dr. Lydia L. Budod and Ms. Luzlyn Agwilang, together with external evaluators Hon. Antonio M. Pagedped and Hon. Gabin Rhey G. Sudicalan of the Sangguniang Bayan of the Local Government Unit of Sabangan. The team conducted face-to-face interviews with barangay officials and community members, while the Extension staff also explained the objectives and programs of the Universityβs Extension Services to the community.
Participants shared how the Training-Workshop on Resolution Making strengthened their skills and confidence in preparing local resolutions and proposals. They also reported sharing the knowledge gained with community-based organizations, enabling local groups to prepare proposals and communicate their development needs more effectively.
One of the concrete outcomes of the training was the βManabakoβ community pathway, a project funded through a resolution independently prepared by local leaders using the skills they gained from the workshop.
The assessment highlighted the continuing impact of the LAGPaS initiative in strengthening community capacity and fostering university-community partnership for local development.
