Where culture meets elegance and conversations create connections, learning takes on a whole new meaning. Mountain Province State University (MPSU) students taking up the Social Orientation subject brought these values to life through the “High-Altitude Fine Dining Soirée in Social Etiquette and MPSU Coffee Heritage,” held yesterday, October 11, 2026 at Basil and Lime, Samoki, Bontoc, MP.
Gracing the occasion, University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue through Director of Social Orientation, Mr. Alvin L. Katano emphasized that fine dining goes beyond proper table manners, highlighting the importance of genuine human connection.
“A fine dining experience teaches us more than proper table manners. It reminds us that the table is a place where relationships are strengthened, stories are shared, and connections are made,” said Dr. Cue.
He further encouraged students to be present and intentional in their interactions,
“So, today I invite you to embrace a simple but meaningful idea: come to the table with stories to share, not phones to stare at,” he added.
Serving as the guest speaker, Mr. Jerzyval T. Bestre shared insights that enriched the students’ understanding of social etiquette and its practical application beyond the classroom.
Ultimately, the soirée reminded students that true elegance is not defined by what is served at the table, but by the respect they show, the conversations they create, and the lasting connections they build.
Through experiences like this, MPSU continues to shape students who carry not only knowledge and skills but also the confidence, courtesy, and character to make a meaningful impression wherever they go.
