Beyond an evening of fine dining, students taking the Social Orientation (SOC-OR) subject at Mountain Province State University (MPSU) gained valuable lessons in dining etiquette, professionalism, and meaningful human connections during their Fine Dining activity on October 10, at Basil & Lime, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
On behalf of University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, Chief of Staff Dr. Karen B. Cue delivered an inspirational message encouraging the students to make the most of the experience and carry its lessons beyond the dining table.
“So tonight, I invite you to do two things:
First, enjoy this experience. Appreciate the elegance, the learning, the company. Do not waste this opportunity. Not everyone gets to experience something like this, so be present and make it meaningful.
Second, when you go home, bring this lesson with you. Bring back the habit of sitting at the table not just to eat, but to understand and appreciate one another. Talk to your family not your phones.”, said Dr. Cue.
The message emphasized that fine dining goes beyond knowing the proper use of utensils or observing table manners. It is also about demonstrating respect, being mindful of others, and building connections through shared experiences.
Serving as Guest of Honor and Speaker, Mr. Christopher W. Lao-e shared insights with the students, emphasizing the importance of proper dining etiquette and the confidence and social skills needed in formal and professional settings.
Through this activity, students were given the opportunity to apply classroom learning in an actual dining setting, helping them develop confidence, social awareness, and the proper conduct expected in formal gatherings.
