Under the leadership of University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, Mountain Province State University (MPSU) continues to advance its vision of a caring, inclusive, and supportive academic community.
MPSU launched four new community facilities- the Community Closet, Base Camp, Cozy Nook, and Gender and Development (GAD) Learning Hub while also celebrating the first anniversary of the Happiness Center yesterday, October 8, 2026, at 3rd floor, Admin bldg., MPSU, Bontoc, MP.
Dr. Cue led the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside key university officials and stakeholders, while Rev. Fr. Antonio F. Fangkingan, Jr. facilitated the blessing of the newly established facilities.
Said initiatives reflect Dr. Cue’s continuing commitment to creating a university environment that responds to the diverse needs of students, employees, and stakeholders, one that places compassion, wellness, inclusion, collaboration, and student development at the heart of institutional growth.
The Community Closet puts compassion into action by providing clothing, basic necessities, and assistance to individuals in need, while fostering a culture of generosity and concern for others.
Meanwhile, the Base Camp serves as a welcoming space where training, meetings, outreach activities, leadership development, and community engagement can take place, allowing students of the university to collaborate and work together toward shared goals.
The Cozy Nook, on the other hand, promotes wellness by providing a comfortable space for rest, reflection, and rejuvenation, recognizing that mental and emotional well-being are just as important in creating a healthy and supportive university environment.
At the same time, the GAD Learning Hub strengthens MPSU’s commitment to gender equality, diversity, inclusivity, and social justice by providing learning resources and opportunities that encourage awareness, meaningful conversations, and continuous learning.
Beyond the four facilities, Dr. Cue also shared MPSU’s next initiative: the development of learning capsules on the academe side of the campus. Envisioned as flexible spaces for studying, meetings, collaboration, and academic activities, the learning capsules are expected to feature amenities such as Wi-Fi, televisions, tables, and other resources to support students’ learning needs.
MPSU likewise extends its sincere gratitude to the Provincial Local Government Unit-MP and the Office of the Congressman for joining us in this meaningful celebration and for their continued support of initiatives that contribute to the development and well-being of the MPSU community.
These projects reflect PEGC’s leadership vision of an MPSU that does not simply provide spaces, but creates environments where people can learn, connect, rest, collaborate, and thrive.
