The University inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) today at the Administration Building.

Anchored to the SDGs 3, 4, 10, 11, and 17, the MOA signing is a crucial initiative to promote volunteerism in the University.

The PNVSCA is the government agency mandated to promote and coordinate volunteer programs and services in the country. PNVSCA closely works with other government agencies, non-government organizations, the academe, the corporate group, the media, and other partners in converging and linking the different volunteering efforts and resources so that they are aligned with national priorities and assist especially the marginalized sectors and communities. The framework of the said agency was established through Republic Act No. 9418, also known as the Volunteer Act of 2007.

In his message, University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue highlighted the importance of the collaboration. โ€œThis is a testament to our shared vision, which is creating worthwhile change in the form of unconditional service to the communities,โ€ he said.

โ€œWith this collaboration, we are confident that we can strengthen our forces in expanding our efforts to provide more roadways to our students, to out employees including our stakeholders,โ€ Dr. Cue added.

Executive Director for PNVSCA Mr. Donald James D. Gawe also added that volunteerism is a potent vehicle for education, โ€œnot only in the academic senses, but also in cultivation a robust civil consciousness to our students.โ€

โ€œThe essence of this MOA lies in its capacity to give the rich tradition of volunteerism into the educational tapestry of our institution,โ€ Mr. Gawe added.

Said event was witnessed by Director for International and Local Affairs Dr. Karen B. Cue, NSTP Director Mr. Mike N. Allidem, Ms. Fely M. Baday [from PNVSCA], Director for Extension Services Dr. Joy Fraine Ngodcho, Student Regent Mr, Hill Coleman Awichen, SSC Officers, and NTSP faculty members and personnel.#
