
Paracelis, Mountain Province – Mountain Province State University (MPSU) Paracelis Campus hosted a significant event yesterday (July 31, 2025) aimed at boosting agricultural education and local farming initiatives. The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) visited the campus to conduct a planting demonstration among students and faculty and staff of the Diploma in Agricultural Technology (DAT) and Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT) programs.
The demonstration focused on the proper techniques for planting cacao and robusta coffee seedlings, providing students with valuable, hands-on experience. This initiative is collaborative effort organizedby the staff and faculty at MPSU Paracelis Campus.
The event was made even more impactful by the generous donations from the OPAG. The university received:
• 600 cacao seedlings
• 100 robusta coffee seedlings
• 3 bags of organic fertilizer
• 7 kls of OVP corn seeds for silage production
The Engineering team also inspected our barn area, where our cattle and dairy operations will be housed, to ensure that our livestock are raised in a safe and healthy environment.
In counterpart of the university, Mr. Hitler Talawec, also gave more or less 200 of pineapple slips/crowns to be planted at the OPAG satellite at Sinigpit, Palitud, Paracelis Mountain Province.
This collaboration brought together several key organizations, including the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, headed by Eng. Maryjane S. Tumapang, the provincial agriculturist, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources, and the Office for Agricultural Services- LGU Paracelis, represented by Ma’am Luthgarda Fangonon.
Following the demonstration, a luncheon meeting was held to discuss future collaborations and partnership, ensuring continued support for the agricultural students and the community. This event marks a promissing step forward in strengthening agricultural education and promoting sustainable farming practices in the region.
