CHED-SMART Grantees Receive Financial Benefits


The 27 qualified undergraduate student beneficiaries from the College received Php 25,000 educational assistance through the Congressman’s Office in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Grants today, May 30, 2024.

The CHED SMART Grant which includes funds for educational expenses and cost of living allowance is under the National Employment Recovery Strategy which aims to increase the success of students to graduate despite the effects of the pandemic.

“The government and CHED recognized that there are a lot of financial challenges that affect our young people’s pursuit of education,” CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera III stressed in his message. “WE are here to allow every young and aspiring Filipinos, to acquire and achieve their dreams of completing their education,” he added.

Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog added that the program aims to ease the burden of the students, for them to be able to graduate. “Use this assistance for the purpose it was intended,” he added.

College President Edgar G. Cue further added that the grant is not just a financial privilege. “Receive this as a token of appreciation for all your efforts and hard work in pursuit of your studies. This will serve as a symbol of opportunities that lie ahead of your academic journey,” Dr. Cue stressed.

The grant was distributed by CHED Education Supervisor Ms. Christine M. Soriano, represented by Cashier Designate Mr. Jude U. Ambucay, and PTS-StuFAPs Unit Mr. Jay Van P. Basilio.

Present during the payout were Bontoc Campus Director Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, Scholarships and Grants Coordinator Mr. Jay B. Napanoy, the grantees with their parents/guardians, and SGO personnel.
