MPSPC Celebrates Mother’s Day 2024

Bontoc. The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) through the initiative of the Gender and Development (GAD) unit organized an inclusive program for the MPSPC moms and their children to honor Mother’s Day 2024. The activity titled “Expanding Access to Male-Dominated Tasks: A Mother’s Day 2024 Celebration” was held on May 25, 2024, at the MPSPC Bontoc Campus.

Through collaborative and constructive engagement, this initiative offered a structured and enjoyable learning environment, allowing mothers and their children to strengthen their bond. The participants underwent brief discussions and practical exercises on the fundamentals of vehicle troubleshooting, sanitation, and house wiring installation. The facilitators are Mr. Jason B. Oya-oy, Mr. Jessie F. Lengwa, Mr, Ariel Ayochok, Mr. Peter O. Ana-as, and Engr. Emil John Gabriel F. Bokingo. The activity was participated by 21 and 25 mothers and children respectively.

The activity aims to break down barriers that limit women to specific roles, promote inclusivity, and empower them to develop skills traditionally associated with masculinity, engaging children in this initiative also lays the groundwork for a future in which equal skills are valued and nurtured, free from the constraints of gender-based role expectations.

This activity serves as another evidence of the MPSPC’s commitment and dedication to creating a more equitable society where gender does not limit or determine everyone’s potential or opportunities.
