Teaching and Non-teaching personnels as Incident Commanders.

Following the enactment of RA 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine DRRM Act of 2010, the MPSPC took a proactive approach to managing the disaster consequences and reducing disaster risks by institutionalizing various mechanisms in line with the mandates of the government. Facilitated by the Office of the Campus Director-Bontoc Campus, Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, the College is conducting training on Basic Principles and Concepts of the Incident Command System on February 26-28, 2024 at Sagada Cave Pension Hauz, Sagada, Mountain Province.

In partnership with the PNP-MPPPO, BFP-OPFM, and PDRRMO, the office trained the participants through practical exercises to analyze and manage an incident to minimize the negative impact on academic schedules during a calamity.

Moreover, this activity is proposed to capacitate faculty members and non-teaching personnel in managing planned events and incidents that may come in the future, including earthquake drills and fire drills.

In addition, this training contributes to the achievement of SDG 11 on ‘Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable’, specifically target 11.5 on disaster risk reduction. It also supports the target ‘Ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision-making at all levels’ under SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, where peace and security are ensured in the adoption of the concepts of the incident command system.
