MPSU Engages in FLAIR UPLIFT Masterclass to Strengthen International Competitiveness

To strengthen Mountain Province State University’s approach to international rankings, five members of the university’s Technical Working Group (TWG) attended the FLAIR UPLIFT Masterclass on November 4-5, 2024. The FLAIR is an initiative of the Commission and Higher Education and was organized this year in collaboration with the CAIRO Held at the Star Colleges Shilan Campus, the event gathered experts from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) for an intensive learning experience focused on world university rankings.

The MPSU team who attended the masterclass comprises leaders tasked to elevating the university’s standing on a global scale. The MPSPC group includes IQA Director Christie Lynne C. Codod, International and Local Affairs Director Karen B. Cue, Director for Research and Coordinator for International Certifications and Awards Luzlyn M. Agwilang, Planning Director Karyl A. Po-or, IQA Administrative Officer Neil Christian G. Comafay, and School of International Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism Management Associate Dean Maria Fenerlin S. Comafay. Their attendance at the FLAIR UPLIFT Masterclass marks an important step in MPSU’s journey toward international recognition.

The masterclass covered key strategies for scaling university programs, promoting internationalization, and integrating futures thinking. Focused particularly on global ranking systems like the WURI (World’s Universities with Real Impact) Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings, and QS Stars, the event provided insights into the metrics and standards that drive these rankings. High-ranking universities of the region shared their experiences and strategies that led to the success of their institutions in the rankings. The MPSU team gained valuable insights to improve the university’s performance in critical WURI categories and align with THE and QS standards.

Engagement in the FLAIR UPLIFT masterclass reflects MPSU’s commitment to creating impactful, forward-thinking programs and projects. With these insights, MPSU aims to enhance the university’s academic and research initiatives, fostering a global mindset that prepares students for a dynamic world.
