
Baguio City, March 7โ8, 2026 โ Raleigh Lois E. Dizon delivered a commanding performance at the Panagbenga National Invitational Arnis Encounter, securing a silver medal in the Padded/Sword Concept (full-contact) Advance Senior +72kg Womenโs Division.
Dizonโs journey to the finals was marked by grit and mastery of the Filipino martial art. She defeated Lyka Mijares of the Marikina Arnis Team in a decisive bout and blocked by Sarah Jane Lacuesta of the Philippine Army Eskrima Kali Arnis Team to earn her place in the championship round.The competition, a highlight of Baguio Cityโs annual festivities, gathers top Arnis practitioners from across the country to celebrate skill, heritage, and sportsmanship.
Dizonโs silver medal not only adds to her growing list of achievements but also underscores the strength and resilience of women athletes in a traditionally male-dominated arena of full-contact combat sports.Her success is a proud moment for her team, inspiring fellow Arnisadors and the wider community to continue championing Filipino martial arts on both local and national stages.
Joining Dizon in representing the University were teammates Jhefny Camille Casionan, Jasmin Rapelo, Lesta Rei Hendrix Ekid, and Johnriel Damagon, under the guidance of coach Nicole Bryle F. Gut-omen. Their collective effort showcased the rising talent and dedication of young Arnis athletes, further cementing the sportโs place in the countryโs cultural and athletic identity.
