Keep The Connection Going: Building Stronger Bonds Between Father And Child- A Father’s Day Special

The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), through its Gender and Development Unit and the Home Management/Tourism Management Department, recently organized a heartwarming two-day baking activity. The event, held at the HM Laboratory in the Academic Building on June 20-21, aimed to foster stronger bonds between father employees of the institution and their children through the art of baking. Fathers, dads, and soon-to-be papas came together to create delectable treats such as cookies, cupcakes, and cakes during the baking session. Some of the goodies made were taken home, while others were sweetly distributed by the children to other father employees at MPSPC.

Ms. Parline Angyap T. Ullalim, the GAD director, underscored the significance of the baking activity in promoting family relationships. She emphasized the importance of fathers and children understanding and appreciating the efforts of mothers at home, debunking the notion that the kitchen is solely the mothers’ domain.

Meanwhile, during his speech, MPSPC’s President Edgar G. Cue, represented by VP for Admin and Finance Reynaldo Gayyo, expressed gratitude to the dedicated father employees of the institution. “To the fathers, iya-iyaman, for showing your dedicated service to the progress of our institution while continually playing your invaluable character in your respective families,” he said.

As the event concluded, participants reflected on their baking experiences and shared insightful observations. One participant acknowledged the challenges of cooking and baking, describing it as a delicate process that demands energy, patience, and expertise. They expressed newfound respect for mothers and bakers who tirelessly provide nourishment. “We have learned not to complain about imperfect bread or desserts served to us,” they shared.

The baking activity at MPSPC served as a heartening reminder of the value of family bonds and the joy found in shared experiences. Moreover, it challenged traditional gender roles by encouraging fathers to actively participate in domestic tasks, fostering a more equitable and inclusive environment.
