
The Montañosa Coffee Center, Extension Unit, and the Department of Agroforestry and Forestry conducted a training on Coffee plantation establishment, care, and maintenance in collaboration with ACDI/VOCA at MPSPC-Paracelis Campus on March 2-3, 2024.
The main objective of this activity was to equip the participants with the technologies on care and maintenance and to encourage them to plant coffee trees to increase the production of coffee in Paracelis.
The resource persons of the training were the MCC Director, Dr. Alver W. Claudio, who presented the history of the Montañosa Coffee Center; the MPSPC Coffee Nursery Coordinator, Mr. Domingo L. Lawagey who discussed the topics Production of Quality Coffee and Coffee Propagation;
Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (ACDI/VOCA) representative, Mr. Edgar Pandosen who discussed on the Coffee Nursery Establishment and Plantation Establishment and Management. Meanwhile, the president of the Western Red Berry Pickers Association (WRBPA), Mr. Ricarte Guitelen from Sagada was also invited to share his success story in production and processing of coffee. The activity was attended by farmers from Paracelis as well as students from MPSPC Paracelis Campus.
