Two faculty members from the School of Criminal Justice, Education, and Liberal Arts (SCJELA) of Mountain Province State University participated in the FACCI National Conference 2025, held at the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City on 22-24 November 2025.
The conference, organized by the Federation of Authors in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Inc. (FACCI) in partnership with the University of the Cordilleras, carried the theme “Building a Legacy of Knowledge Generation, Production, and Publication in Criminal Justice and Public Safety.”
The three-day event brought together distinguished authors, educators, researchers, and practitioners from across the country to advance criminal justice and public safety education.
Dr. Claire Kaplaan P. Lafadchan served as a panel member for the student research category, where she evaluated presentations and provided critical feedback to emerging researchers. Her role as a panelist demonstrated SCJELA’s commitment to mentoring the next generation of criminology scholars and fostering academic excellence beyond the university’s walls. Dr. Lafadchan also presented her research titled Sustainable Water Governance Policy Directions for Conflict Resolution in Mountain Province, Philippines. Her study contributed valuable insights that supported the conference theme and enriched the academic discussions by addressing governance solutions for local conflict resolution, especially in the context of Mountain Province.
Ms. Parline Angyap Ullalim presented her research, titled “Discipline in the Highlands: The Making of Mountain Province’s Finest Police Officers,” which explored the formative processes and values that shape law enforcement officers in Mountain Province. In addition to presenting, she served as moderator for another session in the student research category, facilitating academic discussions and ensuring productive exchanges among participants. Ms. Ullalim’s exceptional presentation earned her the Best Presenter award in the Faculty Categoryโa recognition that highlighted both the quality of her research and her effectiveness in communicating scholarly insights. The study contributed valuable perspectives that enriched conference discussions and supported the event’s overarching theme of knowledge generation in criminal justice.
Said participation and achievement affirms MPSU’s continuous presence in national academic forums and its dedication to producing research that addresses regional contexts while contributing to broader criminological discourse.
