Students from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing of Mountain Province State University (MPSU) enrolled in Social Orientation (SocOr) course experienced a night of fine dining and flair on November 21, 2025, held at Coffee and Lemon Cafรฉ,Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
In his message, the University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue through MPSU Bontoc Administrator Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, underscored the significance of holistic formation in nursing education.
โThis Social Orientation is a foundation, an anchor that helps you understand yourselves, your values, your identity, your culture, and your place in society. It teaches you how to relate to others with respect, empathy, and purpose. And this fine dining activity is a powerful part of that journey. It teaches you proper table etiquette, confidence and shapes how you carry yourselves in professional spaces. It reminds you that professionalism is also about how you present yourself, how you communicate, and how you treat people from different walks of life.โ, Dr. Cue said.
Furthermore, the stunning Guest of Honor Ms. An G. Gungangac, RN, graced the event with another inspirational message.
“Today, I want to share with you how social orientation has profoundly shaped my own personal and professional journey and how it can shape yours. SocOr makes you realize you are never alone; teaches you empathy; helps you discover who you are; and is the bridge to your professional success. But remember, SocOr is not only outward, it is also inward. You must also connect with yourself. Take time to reflect on your own needs and emotions. Practice self-compassion. Acknowledge your limitations. Seek support and help if needed. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.”, she said.
The event formed part of their professional development training, designed to enhance studentsโ social, communication, and etiquette skills crucial for nursing practice.
