Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through its Special Project successfully conducted the training entitled โKita Mo Na: Building Financially Resilient Cooperativeโ for the officers, staff, and members of Saint Williamโs Multipurpose Cooperative (SWMPC) on March 18โ19, 2026 at the Isap Hall, SWMPC Farm and Resort, Butigue, Paracelis, gathering cooperative leaders and members eager to strengthen their financial resilience and sustainability.
Personnel from the Department of Agriculture โ Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA-ACPC) closely monitored the conduct of the training, ensuring alignment with national cooperative development standards.
The Kita Mo Na module itself is a collaborative initiative crafted by DA-ACPC, BDO Foundation, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), designed to empower cooperatives with practical knowledge on financial management, risk preparedness, and responsible credit practices.
MPSU facilitators guided participants through interactive sessions, scenario-based learning, and reflective discussions tailored to the realities of cooperative operations in rural communities.
The training emphasized the importance of financial literacy as a cornerstone of cooperative resilience, especially in navigating challenges brought by market shifts, climate risks, and evolving member needs.SWMPC officers expressed their appreciation for the program, noting its relevance to their cooperativeโs mission of uplifting members through sustainable livelihood and financial empowerment.
The partnership between MPSU and DA-ACPC was highlighted as a model of how academic institutions and government agencies can work hand-in-hand to strengthen grassroots organizations.
The two-day activity concluded with participants committing to apply the lessons learned in their cooperative operations, ensuring that financial resilience becomes not just a concept but a lived practice within their community.
