The Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) Orientation and Payout was held today, April 21 at Eyeb, Bontoc, Mountain Province, bringing together student beneficiaries, parents, guardians, and esteemed partners in a celebration of hope and support.
The event was graced by University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue through VP for Internationalization, Planning, and Information Management, Atty. Dexter C. Lingbanan, who delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude and encouragement.
“Behind your smiles today are stories that are not always easy. Some of you wake up early, travel far, budget every peso, and still show up in class doing your best. That is not small. That is a strength. And today, this support is our way of telling you: nakikita namin kay at naniniwala kami sa inyo,” said Dr. Cue.
He also reminded them that progress, no matter how small, is valuable.
“Awan ti maysa a dalan a nalaka. Isu nga no marikna yo nga narigat, haan kayo a mabuteng. Ituloy yo laeng. Uray bassit a progress iti inaldaw, napateg dayta,” he added.
Dr. Cue also emphasized the importance of discipline, urging students to fulfill responsibilities even when motivation wanes, as this builds true strength.
To the parents and guardians, he expressed deep gratitude:
“You may not always say it, but your presence, your sacrifices, even your silent prayers, marikriknan dagiti annak yo dayta. Ituloy yo laeng ti panangsuporta, ta dakayo ti rason no apay nga agtultuloy da.”
He reminded students that their education is not only for themselves but for their families and communities, encouraging them to one day give back when they are able.
In his closing, Dr. Cue shared a thought inspired by Peter Drucker:
“The best way to predict the future is to create it. So don’t wait for a better future, you build it, and you start it now in simple ways like attending your classes, respecting your parents, and finishing what you started.”
Messages of support were also delivered by Congressman Maximo Dalog Jr., represented by Ms. Wabilyn Lomong-oy, and Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., represented by Mr. June Pinayakan, further strengthening the spirit of unity and commitment to the students’ success.
