Prexy Cue upholds ethical leadership at IREC Election and SOP Review

The Institutional Research Ethics Committee (IREC) recently conducted its Election of Officers and Review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), an activity that underscored the committee’s dedication to ethical governance and responsible leadership earlier today, July 20, at University AVR.

University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue graced the event, delivering a message that emphasized the deeper meaning behind the proceedings.

“This activity is not merely about selecting individuals to hold positions; it is about recognizing those who are willing to embrace the responsibility, accountability, and commitment that come with leadership. It is a reminder that leadership is not defined by a title or designation, but by the service and impact one creates for others,” he said.

His message resonated with the committee’s mission to ensure that research conducted under its guidance adheres to the highest standards of fairness, accountability, and respect for human dignity.

Said review of SOPs further reinforced the committee’s commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring that its processes remain aligned with evolving ethical standards. By combining leadership renewal with procedural reflection, the IREC reaffirmed its role as a cornerstone of responsible research within the university.
