Mountain Province State University (MPSU), under the leadership of University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, proudly participated in the 1st Regional Convention on Bamboo Innovation held on July 15 to 17, 2026, at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Led by Dr. Brent Greg E. Gomuad, the MPSU delegation joined fellow Cordillera State Universities and Colleges (CAR-SUCs) in presenting the milestones of the Bamboo Industry Development for Environment Conservation and Countryside Post-COVID Economic Boom (BIDEC) Project. Anchored on the theme, “Sinnakit ken Sirmata: Weaving Cordillera Resilience into the CARASUC Bamboo Nexus,” the convention highlighted regional collaboration in advancing bamboo research, innovation, environmental conservation, and sustainable countryside development.
During the Kapihan with CAR-SUCs, Dr. Gomuad showcased MPSU’s accomplishments, including the establishment of bamboo biofencing along the Chico River, bamboo nurseries, and techno-demonstration farms, as well as the integration of bamboo production and utilization into the University’s forestry and agriculture curricula. He also shared MPSU’s current direction toward commercialization, value chain analysis, entrepreneurship incubation, and product innovation to enhance the competitiveness of bamboo-based products.
