MPSU-CAE launches three-day curriculum review and faculty retooling seminar-workshop


The College of Advanced Education (CAE) of Mountain Province State University (MPSU) formally commenced its three-day seminar-workshop titled, “College of Advanced Education’s Blueprints of Transformation and Excellence: Advanced OBE Curriculum Mapping, Syllabus and Assessment Design, Learning Materials Development, and Faculty Retooling on Thesis Advising and Paneling,” at Basil and Lime Hall, Samoki, Bontoc.

Anchored on the theme, “Weaving Excellence, Empowering Minds: Transforming Curriculum and Faculty for Global Competence and Sustainable Futures,” the activity gathered the CAE academic community, including its dean, program coordinators, faculty members, and personnel, along with the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), campus administrators from the Bontoc and Tadian campuses, and the Curriculum Director.

In his welcome message, delivered by Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Reynaldo P. Gayo Jr., MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue emphasized the importance of faculty development, stating, “This is the essence of this engagement. It is not only about enhancing curriculum, assessment, learning materials, and academic processes; it is about strengthening the faculty members and academic leaders who bring these initiatives to life.”

The Day 1 session focused on advanced outcomes-based education (OBE) curriculum mapping and constructive alignment, with Dr. Emmanuel J. Songcuan, Campus Head for Quality Assurance of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), serving as the resource speaker. Discussions covered graduate education in the era of OBE, quality assurance, international standards, curriculum mapping methodologies, and curriculum audit. Participants also engaged in workshops on gap analysis, curriculum mapping, alignment, and continuous improvement planning to strengthen graduate programs and support quality assurance initiatives.

Said three-day seminar-workshop aims to strengthen faculty competencies in outcomes-based education (OBE), curriculum mapping, syllabus and assessment design, learning materials development, and research mentoring to further enhance the quality of graduate education at MPSU.
