BEIJING, CHINAโ€”Mountain Province State University, represented by President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, brought the Philippinesโ€™ voice to the global stage after presenting its best practices in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) at the Chinaโ€“Southeast Asia Capacity Development Workshop on TVET Digital Transformation for Sustainable Rural Development.

The event, co-organized by the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (UNESCO INRULED), the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED), the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), gathered TVET educators, policymakers, scholars, and enterprise representatives from China, Southeast Asia, and other regions. It aimed to explore values and innovations in TVETโ€™s digital transformation and to guide strategies toward building inclusive and sustainable societies.

During the afternoon session last August 18, 2025, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue shared the universityโ€™s TVET programs, focusing on initiatives that integrate digital tools to expand access to skills training, strengthen industry linkages, and support rural development.

Also representing the Philippines during the speaking engagement was Dr. Silvia Catalan Ambag, a graduate professor from Lyceum of the Philippines University, who shared insights from her academic and professional experiences in higher education and vocational training.

The workshop emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange, digital innovation, and regional cooperation to accelerate TVET transformation and ensure that technological advancements contribute to sustainable rural development.

By joining the international platform, MPSU reinforced its commitment to advancing rural education and contributing to global dialogues on inclusive and sustainable development.

MPSU participants would like also to thank the Asia Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators Incorporated (APCORE Inc.) for the invitation and the opportunity to join in the prestigious event and be able to learn and share the university’s best practices on the global stage.
