This supports the integration of Cordillera Heritage 101 into the curricula of HEIs, aligning with the mission to preserve and promote Cordillera culture and heritage.
To ensure that faculty members of the HEIs in the region are equipped with the knowledge and pedagogies in teaching the course, the seminar is an intensive program that immerses participants in the Cordillera cultural landscape. It also provides hands-on training on teaching methods, curriculum integration, and the development of contextualized resources.
Therefore, the first day of the immersion covered the heritage of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Baguio City, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province, based on the Cordillera Heritage 101 chapters. Teaching simulations for these topics are scheduled for tomorrow.
The training also aims to produce faculty-developed lesson exemplars and contextualized instructional materials integrating Cordillera Heritage themes for Cordillera Heritage 101.
In his message, University President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by the Campus Director for MPSU-Bontoc Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, noted, “make sure that our heritage does not end with us and ensure that the generations to come will carry our stories, our values, and our spirit with pride and understanding.”
Prior to the beginning of the event, a welcome dinner was held yesterday 04 September 2025 for the participants.
Said immersion and training will end tomorrow, 05 September 2025.#
