University’s International Volunteer Month Initiatives Highlight Clean-up drive, Blood Donation

The Mountain Province State University (MPSU), through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), spearheaded the “Clean and Care: NSTP’s Volunteer Month Celebration” on December 8, 2024, in observance of International Volunteer Month.

This initiative featured a community clean-up drive and blood donation activity designed to promote both environmental responsibility and community resilience—key elements of the University’s support for SDG 13: Climate Action.

The clean-up drive served as an environmental education campaign, where student-volunteers, faculty, and staff learned about the impacts of improper waste disposal and the importance of maintaining clean waterways to reduce flooding and mitigate the effects of climate change. The activity also emphasized individual and collective roles in local climate adaptation, highlighting how proper waste management contributes to healthier, more climate-resilient communities.

The event was carried out in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross–Mountain Province, the PNP, BFP, and BJMP, demonstrating MPSU’s commitment to multi-sectoral partnerships in advancing both environmental and humanitarian causes. Through these joint efforts, volunteers became active partners in building climate awareness, strengthening public health, and promoting sustainable environmental practices across communities.
