
MPSPC concluded its Pride Month celebrations on June 28, 2024, with a grand finale that left a lasting impact on all participants. The Pride Month Program, organized by the College’s Gender and Development Unit, was a culmination of various activities involving the institution’s stakeholders. The program began with a powerful opening message delivered by the Vice President for Administration and Finance, Reynaldo Gayyo, who emphasized the importance of the celebration. Gayyo stated, “The celebration stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit and collective determination that has propelled us forward in the ongoing fight for equality and justice.” This remark set the tone for the event, highlighting the significance of the celebration in promoting gender equality and reducing inequality.
Representing College President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark Preston S. Lopez, took the stage to express his admiration for the LGBTQ+ individuals within the institution. He commended, “I am more than proud of you all for having the courage to embrace your true selves instead of living in misery, trying to please society.” This laudatory speech underscored the bravery and authenticity of the LGBTQ+ community at MPSPC.
The event featured a variety of activities, including the search for MPSPC Bahaghari, the Arch Competition, and a poignant candle lighting ceremony dedicated to honoring the LGBTQ+ employees and students who have passed away. Additionally, a free HIV screening was conducted as part of the College’s commitment to promoting health and well-being among its community members.
