Mountain Province State University (MPSU) President Dr. Edgar G. Cue was conferred one of the 2026 Outstanding Volunteers Awards (OVA) during the awarding ceremony held on January 24, 2026, at the 456 Le Grande Hotel, Baguio City.
The recognition was awarded as part of the 15th National Convention on Environment, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction, organized by the Students’ Actions Vital to the Environment and Mother Earth (SAVE ME) Movement. The event honored individuals and institutions whose exemplary volunteer service has significantly contributed to environmental protection, social development, and community empowerment.
Dr. Cue received the award in recognition of his sustained leadership in advancing education, volunteerism, and environmental stewardship. In his acceptance message, President Cue expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and emphasized that the recognition reflects collective efforts rather than individual achievement.
“This award does not belong to me alone,” Dr. Cue shared. “It belongs to the communities I have worked with, the students and colleagues who continue to serve quietly, and every volunteer who chooses action over apathy.”
He further emphasized that volunteerism is a powerful form of leadership, particularly amid pressing challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and social vulnerability. According to Dr. Cue, every act of service, regardless of scale, strengthens communities and helps safeguard a shared future.
Dr. Cue’s participation in the national convention reaffirmed MPSU’s strong support for civic engagement and its commitment to fostering a culture of service among students, faculty, and staff.
